A weekend in the Douro to spend peacefully as a couple, family or small group gives you the opportunity of doing countless activities and visits.
Our suggestion is that you book a quiet family accommodation between Douro and Minho to enjoy the “best of 2 worlds”!
For example, between Douro and Tâmega there is the “baroque village” of Celorico de Basto and the holiday home Casa do Penedo, recommended for families and small groups (which you can book here).

Douro Tour, what is our recommendation?
The Douro Tours wine tour douro valley (wine tour in the douro) that passes through typical Douro villages and includes wine tastings, visits to viewpoints and valleys is our recommendation. The tour is personalized with a tour guide and made in a luxury vehicle with air conditioning.
We also recommend a cruise on the Douro with lunch. For example, the Régua Pinhão cruise, where you can enjoy an excellent lunch and a quiet boat trip in the Douro wine region.
A 2-day Douro cruise is also a good option, but the days will not be as well spent as at Casa do Penedo, which you can book here.
Douro what to visit?
The Douro River is unique in the world for the beauty of the Douro wine region, whose maximum exponent are its mountain vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest existing in the world.
The microclimate of the region allows the production of Port Wine with incomparable quality, being that between Douro and Minho a wine of unique quality is also produced in the world: Vinho Verde. "The one who slips well down the throat and only sits when getting up from the table."
There are numerous activities to do between Douro and Minho, such as walking along the Route of the Romanesque, taking a cruise in the Douro, navigating the Douro with a sail boat, biking, kayaking, yachting, among others.
Our recommendation is to start in Régua or Pinhão, the heart of the Douro. In any of this towns, along the Douro River, there are boats, kayaks, Port Wine farms and Douro tours that you can do for a budget.
Guests at Casa do Penedo, a farm house and quiet accommodation between Douro and Minho that you can book here, usually prefer to do 3 types of activities in the Douro:
» Visiting a Port Wine winery
» Traveling the Douro by train
» Make the magnificent Douro cruise Régua Pinhão
Some go further and venture to the international Douro, where the landscapes are even more magnificent.
Companies such as Douro Azul, Douro Sailing, Douro Tours, Douro Bike, Douro Kayak and Douro Sailing are referenced by Casa do Penedo (book it here) and we will help to customize your experience and itinerary in the Douro.
Douro restaurants, which are the best?
When on the Douro wine tour, visiting Port wine wineries, most of these tours already have restaurants in the Douro for lunch and some also for dinner.
Alternatively, following the comments of guests staying at Casa do Penedo house for rent (which you can book here), we recommend the following restaurants:
» Doc Douro
» Douro Excellence
» Douro Flavours
» Douro à Vista restaurant
Each one with its own menu, with guaranteed quality.
Looking for the famous Douro images, there is a panoramic restaurant on the Douro at the Miradouro da Galafura. Highly recommended.
